Leash Control – Calm, Well Regulated Walking

The top priority for improving your relationship with your dog

Prices for all training sessions are on the booking page

If you have a dog of any size that is out of control on leash, then let’s get together and make your walks peaceful, steady, and confident. Many times an out of control dog just requires a bit of adjustment in the leadership of their owner/handler.

Sometimes it’s a bit more complicated than that. Whatever the reason your dog is pulling like a tractor, there are ways of taming that, and bringing the dog under the guiding hand of the calm, confident leader you can be.

Minimum equipment for your leash control training session: A common 5-6 foot snap leash. A secure buckle collar. A pouch with training treats worn at waste level. Any pouch will do.

For best long-term training results:

  1. The emotional and mental resolve to ‘correct’ your dog with leash/collar pressure for what is undesirable and possibly dangerous behavior.
  2. (Preferred) A six foot, soft round slip leash, or alternately, a slip collar and 6 foot snap leash with metal snap. May require ordering. [Equipment descriptions here]
  3. A waist pouch with plenty of your dog’s favorite treats.
  4. Some dogs are not motivated by any food or toy. If that is the case with yours, movement, praise, and correction without any lure will be necessary. Bringing the dog into a respectful, confident state of mind will be necessary without luring.
  5. Be prepared to work consistently with your dog on this process, at home and in public.

This is a single session for one adult dog only.

Allow one hour for this training session. 30 minutes of discussion, description, demonstration. 30 minutes of actively working the dog.

Training for adult dogs will be at a local public park. Location will be determined through the scheduling process.

Those times will vary somewhat, but going much beyond that time will most often bring diminishing results as both the dog and handler tire.
